Missing snowmobiler's helmet found Trust funds set up for family Posted By Jason Bain, Lindsay Post Managing Editor LITTLE BRITAIN - A pair of trust funds have been set up to support the family of a Little Britain snowmobiler who disappeared on Lake Scugog nearly two weeks ago. Grant Turner, 46, set out from a McGill Drive home near Janetville on a yellow 1996 Bombardier Skidoo MXZ and never showed up at his home on Gilson Street. Trust funds have been set up to support Turner’s wife and three young children, including at Scotia Bank at 165 Kent St. W in Lindsay (63172-11733-83) and Kawartha Credit Union at 420 Eldon Road in Little Britain (1239334-24). An intense physical search for Turner that included an OPP helicopter and airplane after he was reported missing shortly before 11 a.m. Dec. 20 was not successful. Snowmobile tracks found going across the lake “abruptly stopped” and dangerous ice conditions prohibited investigators from going out on the lake, police said. On Monday afternoon, another aerial search of the north end of the lake led to the discovery of a snowmobile helmet belonging to Turner on the shore of the lake near the mouth of the Scugog River, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP media relations officer Const. Mark Boileau said Tuesday. Police plan to continue the search from the air. Turner is described as white, six feet tall, 186 pounds with short, black hair, a fair complexion and average build. He was last seen wearing a yellow jacket, black snow pants and a black, blue and silver helmet and black boots with red duct tape on the toes. |
